Residents are being urged to remain on their guard after burglars targeted two properties in Driffield this month.
Both attempts failed and police are appealing for witnesses.
The first offence happened at a property on Bridlington Road, Driffield, between 9pm on Thursday April 4and 8.30am the following day when would be thieves entered the rear garden of a semi detached house and attempted to gain entry to the garage via a side window.
A police spokeswoman said: “Damage was caused to the window but no entry gained. A further attempt was later discovered on the rear kitchen upvc casement window.
“It is believed the offenders had stood on a plastic garden chair to reach the window and used a 1cm flat ended tool in an attempt to force the window. No entry was gained.”
Witnesses are being sought and anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around that time should contact the police and quote crime reference 1966803.
A second attempted burglary took place on on Fawcett Gardens, Driffield, around 5.30pm on Thursday April 11 when two males, both white in their late 20’s, one stocky and one slim, approached a semi detached property.
One of the suspects looked through the resident’s letter box and, having been disturbed by the sound, the resident saw the male making his way to the rear of the property.
A second male was seen to join him in front of the resident’s wooden shed, which is secured by means of a bolt lock. One of the males then grabbed the top of the shed door and forced it open by pulling it away from the bolt lock gaining entry to the shed.
The resident witnessed this and shouted at the males who ran off through the side alleyway on foot.
Witnesses are sought - contact the police by phoning 101 and quote crime reference 1967785.
