Driffield Jaguars U10 2
North Ferriby Greens U10 0
Game One
Driffield started strongly against Ferriby and were soon awarded a corner from which Harvey Wilkes was unlucky not to score from a glancing header, and this was soon followed by two narrow misses by Harry Foulds and Olly Green.
Ferriby then began to regain some composure and started to pass the ball around the field very well and were soon testing the skills of Jay Coleman and Liam Ward in defence and Matt Pinder in goal.
Ferriby came very close to taking the lead when one of their shots was tipped onto and then over the bar by Matt and minutes later some last minute tackles by Harry Webster and Harvey Wilkes came to the assistance of an embattled defence to keep Driffield in the game.
Ferriby though were open to the running play of Driffield and following a great run and cross from the right wing Harry Foulds slotted the ball away to give the lead to Driffield. This was soon followed by a second from Harvey Wilkes whose terrific shot put Driffield two up at the interval.
The second half was at times a very dicey affair with Ferriby dominating for some quite long periods and Driffield losing their shape.
Both Jay Coleman, Dan Aconley and Olly Shaw were hard pressed to keep them at bay, but keep them at bay they did with good support from Harry Webster and Ben Evans, but oh boy was it hard work.
Matt Pinder in goal was being stretched to the limit and made two great reaction saves in as many minutes. Slowly calm returned and Driffield began to play forward some good long balls releasing Ben Evans and Olly Green who so very nearly raised to score further.
However it is fair to say that Driffield were relieved when the final whistle blew and three points were in the bag.

Game One
The second game began with Ferriby thirsting for revenge and they were rewarded when some sloppy play allowed Ferriby to overwhelm the defence and take the lead with a well-placed goal.
This was very nearly followed by another goal but a good save by Matt and subsequent clearance kept Ferriby to one goal.
Driffield then upped the tempo with some great runs by Harvey Wilkes, Harry Webster and Olly Green. A superb shot from the latter was parried by the Ferriby keeper to Harry Foulds who showed great maturity and calmly put the ball away for a super goal.
Ferriby remained dangerous and Dan Aconley and Liam Ward really had to work hard on occasions. However Harvey Wilkes quickly followed with a second goal to give Driffield a half-time lead of 2-1.
This lead and possibly the arrival at half-time of the ice cream van really raised the team spirits and Driffield took to the field with a revised formation of Olly Green as forward and Ben Evans on right wing.
This paid immediate dividends when Olly Green snaked through to smash the ball in for his first goal of the game and put Driffield 3-1 up.
Ferriby again countered but good defending from Jay and Olly Shaw saw them kept and bay and some good passing play saw the roles reversed and Driffield pushing for goal.
Driffield got their fourth of the match when from an inch perfect Jay corner Harvey headed home, and this was immediately rounded off with another goal from a hard running Olly Green.
A much better performance; and one which quite knocked the stuffing out of a good Ferriby team.
