A funeral service was held at the Parish Church, Driffield on Friday, May 24 for Mrs Olive Kneeshaw of Spencers Way, Driffield who died peacefully in Hull Royal Infirmary. She was 96.
The service was conducted by the Rev Andrew Ison and the organist was Mr Martin Salter.
Olive was born at Foston in 1916. After leaving school she went to work at the local Co-op in Driffield. She met her husband to be Harold at a local dance and they married in 1942 at Foston church. They went on to have two sons Peter and David. Her husband died in 1964.
Olive helped her brother and sister in law run a Sunday newspaper business. After her son David took over the business Olive helped him every Sunday up to the age of 81.
After she retired she enjoyed watching TV (not football), reading her paper and doing the crossword. She enjoyed having her granddaughter and great granddaughter visit her.
Olive was a lady of strong character, she was thoughtful, loving, kind hearted and caring. She remained independent in her own home thanks to kind neighbours and friends.
She will be greatly missed.
