A man drove dangerously and over the legal alcohol limit along the A614 at Driffield, a court has heard.
Andrew Brian Nicholson, 56, of First Avenue, Liversage, admitted to driving a vehicle with 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - almost double the legal limit of 35mg in 100ml of breath.
He also admitted to a charge of dangerous driving, which happened on the same date - Saturday 6 July, as the drink drive charge.
Both offences took place in Driffield.
At Bridlington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 July prosecution solicitor Heather Levett, said at around 8.50pm police received a call from a woman at a caravan park in Bridlington concerned about the behaviour of a man staying in a caravan with his family near to hers.
“A male had been drinking pints while at his caravan and he had gone to fill up his glass five or six times,” said Ms Levett.
She said: “She describes the male as drinking and becoming aggressive, shouting ‘you are all going home now’.
“She then saw him drive his car with the caravan attached. She was alarmed as she thought the children and the wife were in the car.”
Ms Levett continued to tell magistrates how police spotted the vehicle and followed it, eventually stopping it.
She said Nicholson explained he had had an argument with his wife and had locked her and his two grandchildren in the caravan and was driving back to West Yorkshire.
In mitigation for Nicholson Tariq Hussain asked magistrates to retain the case in their jurisdicition.
Presiding magistrate Sheila McNab ordered Nicholson to return to Bridlington Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 15 August and banned him from driving with an interim disqualification.
