Driffield Striders women’s team saved their best till the last event of the 2013-14 cross-country league season.
They achieved third place in the final race at Sewerby, giving them fifth place overall after six races.
Alison Crellin (41.55) and Sian Morgan (42.25) set the standard, well supported by Debbie Church (45.04) and Benita Jones (50.32).
Carla Stansfield (Beverley AC) was first woman back and 14th overall in an excellent 35.53.
On a wet and muddy course no-one could catch City of Hull’s Stuart Carmichael (33.00), who was over a minute ahead of second place Jack Robertson (Scarborough AC).
Jon Morgan (36.39) led the men’s team home, pursued by Jon Rodger (36.59) and Jazz Edeson (37.11). Jason Merrick (37.51), John Harrison (38.28) and Jon Purdy (38.44) kept each other competitive, backed by Andrew Boyes (41.31) and Martin Stack (48.36).
There were 126 runners overall. The final race and prizegiving at the Ship Inn, Sewerby, was organised by Bridlington Road Runners.
