Bryan Panhausen Trophy Final

Driffield Town 1

Bridlington Foresters 0

Driffield Town claimed their first piece of silverware of the season against a very different looking Foresters team.

Town kept with the same 11 who had started the semi final the previous week but it was Foresters who settled quicker with the young striker firing wide early on and them also hitting the post.

Town started to get a foot hold on the game with Brown and Nathan Parker battling in the centre of the park and Addinal getting forward to support Mills.

Joel Wilson and Rodgers were linking up well down the left hand side but Foresters twice went close, first Ollie Parker bravely diving at the feet of the striker and then Foster making a wonderful goal line clearance.

As the first half drew to a close it was Town who nearly took the lead, Nathan having a header cleared off the line and Jackson pile driver being tipped over.

With the manager team talk still ringing in their ears, Town came out fighting and Colquhoun started raiding down the right flank with some good deliveries and a shot going just wide of the far post.

Town started to believe the game was for the taking and Mills and Addinal went close but Foresters nearly took the lead but were denied by an outstanding point blank stop from Ollie.

Into the last 20 minutes and with Thompson, Rodgers, Foster and Colquhoun dealing with the Foresters attack, Rodgers flick was cleared off the line until five minutes from time came the all important goal.

Another great delivery by Brown caused havoc in the box and Nathan slammed the ball home to set off jubilant scenes for the Town players and big following on the sidelines.

Town saw the rest of the game out until the final whistle, deservedly claiming the trophy.

Beaming manager Steve Parker could not contain his delight, saying: “We deserved that, against a very different team we faced in the league both times.

“But we were unlucky to lose in this final last year but im happy we have won it. Now to wrap up the league.”

Man of the match: Ollie Parker and Jack Rodgers - Brilliant performances in a good team display.
