The rain finally relented and play got underway in week five of the York & District Senior Cricket League Eastern Conference.
North Dalton remain top of Division One after securing victory at Middleton on the Wolds.
The hosts batted first and scored 139 all out with Tyson Woodmansey top scoring with 73, while Sam Ullyott took 3 for 40.
North Dalton reached their target with six wickets to spare with Tom Walgate (46) and Rob Bradley (42) seeing them home. Richard Brigham (4 for 48) was the wicket taker for Middleton.
Champions, Newport were on the wrong end of a draw when they visited Hull Ionians Coal Exporters who totalled 125 for 7 in their allotted overs. James Forrester top scored with 45, while Mark Phillps (3 for 42) and Sam Patel (3 for 21) were the pick of the visitors bowling. Newport closed on 79 for 9 to earn a draw with James Barker taking 4 for 12.
Humbleton had a comfortable victory over Walkington who were all out for 79 with Jordan Caley taking 3 for 29. Despite J Dowson taking 4 for 25, Humbleton eased home with five wickets to spare thanks to Tom Peyman (29) and Scott Harrison (26) showing form with the bat.
Hessle edged home in a close game when they entertained Eastrington who were dismissed for 81 with only Gary Laverack (26) showing any resistance against the bowling of Joel Connell (5 for 11) and Luke Picken (4 for 52). Despite Laverack completing a good game by taking 5 for 30, Hessle edged home with three wickets to spare thanks to Gaz Nicholls top scoring with 28.
The game between Fenner and Beverley Town was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
Hessle and Sutton-on-Hull share the lead in Division Two after recording victories over Airmyn and Leven respectively.
Airmyn were all out for 98 when they entertained Hessle with Andy Merrill top scoring with 30 and Glen Merryfield taking 5 for 12 for the visitors. Hessle reached their target for the loss of three wickets with Paul Leeman (35 not out) and Dan Sayer (26) guiding them home.
At Leven, the hosts were rolled over for just 63 by Sutton-on-Hull with Rob Gainer doing the damage taking 5 for 11. Sutton reached their target without loss with Ryan Peck scoring an unbeaten 56 out of their total of 66 for no wicket.
Nafferton were another team to be shot out quickly for just 64 when they visited Cherry Burton for whom Rob Talbot took 6 for 30. Cherry Burton cruised home with nine wickets to spare with Stewart Scott scoring 26 not out.
Hull Zingari were restricted to 99 for 7 when they visited Dalton Holme with Thomas Wilson top scoring with 33 while James Carr took 4 for 33 for the hosts who made light work of the reply scoring 105 for 1 with Robert Todd finishing unbeaten on 91.
North Ferriby recorded the highest score of the day in this division, 252 for 6 when the entertained Hull Ionians Coal Exporters. Jake Astill just missed out on his century scoring 99 while Scott Watkin (69) and James Greenfield (33) added excellent support. Daniel Smith (3 for 57) was the pick of the visitors bowling. Ionians were all out for 72 in reply with Graham Mattinson (4 for 30), Kenny Donaldson (3 for 10) and Billy Astill (3 for 10) doing the damage.
In Division Three Cottingham and Old Hymerians continued their unbeaten starts to the season with victories over Kirk Ella and Pelican respectively.
At Kirk Ella, Cottingham batted first and scored 204 for 7 with Richard Shaw (46), Kurtis Atkinson (40 not out) and Craig Pitcher 39 all making useful contributions with the bat. Kirk Ella were rolled over for just 56 in reply with Graeme Furlong taking 7 for 30.
Old Hymerians scored 110 when they entertained Pelican with A Ehteshem top scoring with 59 not out, while Steve Kay (5 for 40) and James Smedley (3 for 28) took the bowling honours. Pelican fell just short being all out for 100 in reply with Rob Smedley finishing unbeaten on 47 while Dougie Robertson (3 for 14) and Ehteshem (3 for 9) were the pock of the home sides bowling.
South Holderness had a comfortable win when they visited Skidby. The visitors batted first and were all out for 101 with Carl Bevan top scoring with 43 and D Elliot adding 33, while Andrew Berry (5 for 38) and Ian Harrison (5 for 35) bowled well for the hosts. South Holderness reached their target for the loss of just three wickets with Paul Brooks (41 not out) seeing them home.
The game between Humberside Police and Bransholme & Kingswood ended with the hosts just getting the better of a draw.
The police batted first and scored 122 for 8. Ian Garland top scored with 27 while Andy Fernie took 3 for 34 for the visitors. Bransholme closed on 116 for 8 to earn a draw with Fernie top scoring with 36 and Colin Dobson adding 28 while Tim Lazenby took 4 for 58.
In Division Four Newport got the better of neighbours, Gilberdyke. Newport batted first and scored 139 for 7 with Steve Clarke top scoring with 52 and Adam Buttery adding 31 while Neil Butler took 5 for 28. Gilberdyke were all out for 114 in reply with Dave Mell scoring 44 not out and Joe Ulliott taking 3 for 13.
Beeford batted first when they entertained Cottingham and scored 172 for 6 with Tom Warcup top scoring with 58 not out and Paul Cook adding 27 while Richard Cooke took 3 for 44. Cottingham closed on 96 for 7 to earn a draw. Carl Bray top scored with 26 and James Dunning took 6 for 29 for the hosts.
Only one game was played in Division Five where Cherry Burton got the better of a draw with Hull Ionians Coal Exporters. The visitors batted first and scored 146 all out with Neil Williams top scoring with 69 and Sam Briggs adding 61 not out, while Glen Hartley (4 for 29), Barry Young (3 for 22) and Jack Barnes (3 for 32)
