There will be an evening of song and banter with the best of Yorkshire at the Beverley Folk Club next month.

On Friday 15 August, top folk singers Holly Taymar and Chris Bilton will perform at the Beverley Arms Hotel with special guest David Swann

Holly Taymar and Chris Bilton are two Yorkshire born twenty-somethings who write and perform music which they call subversive acoustic sophistipop.

Like any great music, the genre has a little of everything in it including, folk, country, rock and pop.

However, with one of the most distinctive female voices in the country and a wonderfully eclectic musical partner in support, Holly and Chris have gone from being one of York’s best kept secrets to become one of the UKs most respected acoustic duos in just over five years.

There’s harmonious finger picked acoustic and electric guitars, interwoven beautiful vocal harmonies, a smattering of bass, perfectly placed percussion, banjo and a glimpse of ukelele. There’s also a repertoire of endearing, original songs that you’ll want to hear again and again plus some cover versions that you wouldn’t have expected.

BBC Radio 2 presenters Steve Lamacq and Bob Harris are just two of their many dedicated followers.

Also appearing this evening is a familiar face to folk clubs around the North of England, the brilliant David Swann.

David lives and breathes Yorkshire and in particular the remote farming communities and fishing villages that make up the patchwork quilt of the largest county in England. David is also a teacher and brings a wealth of local history to his songs so not only will you be well entertained but you might also learn a thing or two.

Tickets for the concert cost £8 and for more details contact 01482 864979
