Tomorrow (Friday, February 6) Woldsway to Health is opening its classes to everyone....the club is running extra classes for all members of the public to go and sample the classes they have on offer.
All classes are £2 to participate and all the proceeds go to the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to fund their life saving research.
A recent 12 year study at the University of Cambridge has revealed that lack of exercise could be killing twice as many people as obesity in Europe. 676,000 deaths over each year were down to inactivity, compared with 337,000 from carrying too much weight.
All the more reason, no matter what you size or shape, for you to get to your local gym and start doing. Obesity and inactivity go hand in hand therefore as soon as people become more active generally they lose weight and get fitter as a consequence.
The BHF has, for over 50 years, pioneered research that has transformed people’s lives that are living with heart and circulation conditions. Their work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease.
“This is a problem that affects millions of people and is something that we feel very passionate about,” says Katherine Felgate one of the personal trainers at Woldsway to Health, “This is why we wanted to do something to support the cause. We decided why not open all of our classes to everyone for the day and help raise some money. Let’s encourage some activity.
“We want to do more than get you out for the day so we are offering anyone who isn’t already a member that attends our wear red day a free week’s pass.
“Becoming more active and fit makes the heart stronger and healthier therefore important we work it out on a regular basis. It makes you feel better and gives you more energy and reduces stress.
“We would like as many people to come and join us tomorrow (Friday) and see what’s on offer and as well as raise money for the cause, help you get on your path to being fitter and healthier.”
James Iveson, club co-owner, added “The fundamental part of our club is that we are open for all – any age, shape, size or fitness. We are here for all.
“We are a non-intimidating, results driven club here to help and advise you in a way that you will feel comfortable and actually enjoy being a part of.”
Classes on offer on Friday are Circuit Training 9.30am, Bootcamp 10.30am, Legs Bums & Tums 12.30pm, Circuit Training 2pm, Kettlebells 5.30pm and Triathlon Training at 7.15pm.
