The new racing season is nearly here and Driffield’s Dan Harrison is looking to gain experience and do well in the qualifying.

The 2015 season will see him compete as an Isle of Man newcomer in the lightweight class at the famous T.T.

He will ride the JHS racing Suzuki GB SFV650 super twin bike. The Isle of Man T.T. is the most famous road racing event in the world and as such provides the biggest test for man and machine as they race against the clock over the 37 3/4 mile course.

Dan said: “For me this is a completely different direction of racing having previously just done short circuits.

“I am greatly indebted to James Holland, team owner of JHS Racing, whose commitment to the T.T has given me this chance.

“I realise this year is all about learning and preparing myself both mentally and physically. Preparation so far includes learning the circuit from on board video footage, flying out to the Isle of Man to meet rider liaison officers John Barton and Richard ‘Milky’ Quayle and doing laps in the hire car around the course.

“With more trips planned over the coming weeks and months I’m really looking forward to being a part of an event that’s so special and just enjoying motorbike racing from a different angle.”

The Suzuki SFV650 has been part of the JHS racing development programme for some years now and at last year’s event had the highest brake horse power in its class. With some little teething problems highlighted, guru James has worked hard to sort them and is confident the bikes will be very competitive this year.

Dan aims this year to gain experience and hopefully do well in the qualifying, which precedes race week. He will then look forward to the race itself which takes place on Friday of race week (June 12).

Dan would like to say a huge thank you to AJPT Fitness of The Bell Hotel, Driffield for their support in his fitness programme.
