YORKSHIRE picked up five wickets in the afternoon session on day two of the County Championship match against Middlesex at Lord’s.
The hosts resumed on 50-0 after lunch, a deficit of 143, and were progressing serenely in the sunny conditions.
But three wickets went down for no runs in the space of 12 balls with the total on 87 to change the complexion of the day.

Tim Bresnan began the mini collapse when he bowled Sam Robson for 53.
The former England opener had played nicely during a 76-ball innings that contained nine fours.
James Middlebrook then took two wickets in four balls from the Pavilion End when he bowled Paul Stirling for 34 and trapped Dawid Malan for a duck.
It has been an unhappy match for Malan, who thus completed a pair and who faced only four deliveries in total.
Middlesex slipped to 128-4 when Steve Patterson knocked out Stevie Eskanazi’s off stump with a fine delivery, and to 143-5 when Jack Brooks dived to his right to catch Neil Dexter off his own bowling on the stroke of tea.
At the break, Nick Compton has 20 and James Franklin has yet to score.
Yorkshire: Lyth, Lees, Leaning, Gale, Ballance, Hodd, Bresnan, Middlebrook, Brooks, Patterson, Sidebottom.
