Driffield Probus Club has been in existence since 1971 and aims to promote fellowship among like-minded, retired and semi-retired gentlemen.
We provide an opportunity to meet and talk with members from a wide range of working life backgrounds and to help enhance the social aspects of retirement through a range of activities designed to meet different needs and tastes.
An important aspect of our philosophy is to provide a support network for members and their wives.
Highlights of 2015
Membership held steady during the year, however recruitment of new members is a continuing challenge.
We moved to the Community Centre for coffee mornings and the Blue Bell Inn at Nafferton for lunches.
We have had discussions (mainly humorous) on items of topical interest, including care by grandparents, Facebook a modern phenomenon, current cricket performances.
We have had visits to Hearing dogs at Bielby, Scarborough Cricket Festival, RAF Scampton, Wetwang Scarecrow Festival and Bridlington Probus.
Talks on gold and Silver by D Holman, BAe Hawk by D Bannister, Life in a Submarine by J Rodmell, Teaching Maths in the 20th century by J Clark and enjoyed a short series of after lunch presentations by members talking for a few minutes about their careers.
