Aircraft which fought in a famous World War II air battle will be taking part in the fifth annual RAF Cadets Vintage Fair and Air Display.

And you can win a free family ticket worth up to £32 in our great competition.

Among the attractions in the event at The Showground, Driffield, on May 30, are The Dakota, one of only two remaining flying craft of its type in the UK

and the beloved Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane fighters, and the only flying Avro Lancaster bomber still in the UK.

This fair will be well anticipated due to the strong link and memories of Bomber Command sorties from Leven, Driffield, Lissett and other bases in this area during World War Two.

Other exhibits at the fair include an Anderson shelter, Land Army Girls, vintage clothing and homewares stalls, classic cars, tractors and bikes, American cars and re-enactors.

LindyHop dancers Kingston swing, The Buckrose concert band and the Big River Jazz Band will be providing some of the entertainment along with DJ, bar and hog roast.

It will also feature the usual popular attractions of the RSPCA Fun Dog Show, craft market, car boot, cadet drills, kids rides, vintage steam carousel horses, waltzers, climbing tower, bungees and children’s races, tug of war and lots more.

Participating cadet squadrons include Driffield 873, Beverley 399, Bridlington 252 (Drummers), Hornsea 298, and Hull 872.

The event is the main fundraiser for the RAF Cadets Welfare and Amenity Fund and for the continued running of the Squadrons.

It helps enabling local young people to participate in air training, sports and fitness, camps, socials, helping in the community, and work towards Duke of Edinburgh Awards, which enhance skills, CVs and employability in today’s challenging economy.

To enter our competition, answer the question:

Name three of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft?

Email your answer, along with your name, full address and daytime phone number, to editorial@driffieldtoday.co.uk by Monday (May 23) – the organiser will be in touch with the winner.
