Farmers across Yorkshire are being urged to compete for a top diversification award
Land, property and business consultancy George F. White is calling for farm businesses across the region to enter this year’s Farm Diversification Award.
The competition looks for farms in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire who have recently diversified and established a new business, with the chosen winner awarded a cash prize and engraved silver salver at the Driffield Show on Wednesday 20 July.
Tom Mason, a Partner at George F. White, said: “We look for farm businesses right across the region which have used their skill and innovation to diversify their business and develop a new product or service on their farm in the last five years.
“Many farmers have found diversifying their farm an extremely effective way of providing a stable income and improving profitability in a time of volatility in agricultural markets.
“We’re looking for those farmers who have done this, and continue to do this, really well.
“The award recognition not only highlights the farm business’s success but it also sets an example to other farmers and businesses in the region and demonstrates how they could follow suit.”
Farmers and their businesses of any size or genre are invited to enter the award, which have proved hugely successful to date.
Previous winners include Humble Bee Farm, the ‘Three Little Pigs’, a perfectionist producer of cured meats based in East Yorkshire, Stepney Hill Butchery and Farm Shop, Anna’s Happy Trotters and Raisthorpe Flyers.
Mr Mason added: “We are always super impressed with all of the entries that we receive and very much look forward to visiting each farm and getting to know the business and how it’s diversified. It is always extremely rewarding to present this award.”
