Ben Norman shone with bat and ball as Wykeham cruised to a 33-run win against Pickering in the Greenwood Hire Under-16s League.

Norman struck 30 retired as the villagers posted 106-0 on Sunday morning, Max Lane hitting the same score and Tom Poor top-scoring with 33 retired.

All-rounder Norman, who plays for Snainton’s senior team on a Saturday, then claimed 3-8 as the Pikes replied with 73-7.

George Hodgson topped the Pickering scores with 20, but this could not halt the leaders.

The league were also hit hard by the resignation of Sewerby under-16s over the weekend.

The clifftop club have struggled for players all season so their decision to quit the league was far from surprising.

Driffield remain top of the Under-11s Zone One table after a 67-run success against Bridlington.

Jack Stabler struck 16 for Driffield, while Joe Anderson added 15 for the Kings Mill Road club as they racked up 290-5.

Alex Burton snapped up fine figures of 2-5 and Harry Cobb took a cracking 2-10 for Brid.

Ollie Needham then bagged an excellent 2-5 as the league leaders pegged Bridlington back to 223-4.

This stretched Driffield’s lead to five points over second-placed Sewerby as their game at Flixton was abandoned due to the wet weather, third-placed Forge Valley’s game at Scalby also suffering the same fate, along with Scarborough against Driffield Girls under-12s.

Pickering maintained their unbeaten record with a massive 215-run win against Duncombe Park B in Zone Two.

Fine knocks from Joe Barker, 21, Morgan Elven, 19, Callum Pepper, 19, and Joe Dawson ,18, steered the Mill Lane club to an imposing total of 364-2.

Elven and Dawson then returned to torment the basement team with the ball, Dawson capturing an amazing 3-1 and Elven 3-7, Alfie Suggitt weighing in with 2-4 as the Helmsley side ended on 149 all out.

Kirkbymoorside remain in second spot after a 95-run triumph against Pickering C, Louie Jemison taking 2-1 for the Moorsiders as they limited the Pikes to 191-5 in reply to Kirkby’s 286-0.

Wykeham registered a 24-run success against Pickering B.

Jamie Dennis’ unbeaten 16 heled the village team to 259-5, M Bowes, 2-9, the pick of the Pikes bowlers. The Pikes then made their way to 235-7 in reply.
