Driffield remain top of Bridlington Evening League Division One after Owen Goldsworthy played a starring role in their 21-run win over Bewholme.
He made 42 in the home side’s 143-5, which was only overshadowed by 70 from Nicky Johnson. But there was no doubt over who was man of the match when Goldsworthy pocketed 5-17 in Bewholme’s reply.
Reuben Kelly weighed in with 2-30 as Bewholme were held to 122-9, with Nick Hardgrave’s 31 and Danny Broumpton’s 28 the top scores.
Grindale are hot on Driffield’s heels after a six-wicket success against Sewerby, who are still searching for their first win of the league campaign.
Sam Wragg’s 35 was the highlight of Sewerby’s 94-9, as Tom Jackson’s 4-23 made batting difficult.
Mark Tennant’s unbeaten 46 took Grindale to their target, despite the best efforts of Calvin Roche (2-27)
Burton Agnes are up to third after victory at North Dalton.
Matt Nesfield’s half-century got them home with almost three overs to spare, after they were set 111 to win.
Tom Norman (3-26) and Ben Brown (4-22) were in good form for Agnes.
Jack Riby’s 2-21 was not enough to stop Nesfield and Simon Moore (22) deciding the result.
Division Two leaders Driffield RUFC breezed past Middleton, bowling the visitors out for 71.
Extras were the top scorers in both innings as Flamborough took on Rudston and Kilham.
The visitors conceded 24 as Flamborough set 94-7, Luke Dixon making 19 and Harry Gunning 17 as Mark Holtby picked up 3-25.
Rudston won by six wickets as there were 37 extras in their reply, although Stu Harrison (28 not out) was there at the end to clinch the result.
Driffield Academy’s Harvey Dixon (23 not out) and Isaac Wilkes (32) punished Wold Newton, who had only mustered 63-9 and slumped to a nine-wicket defeat.
Rich Webster’s 25 was the only highlight of the night for the Woldsmen, as they were torn apart by Jordan Caley’s 6-10.
Unbeaten North Frodingham beat struggling Barmston in Division Three.
Andy Inns’ 51 and Matty Richardson’s 28 helped Frod up to 117-9, although Lyndon Warkup’s 4-16 and Ashley Porter with 2-15 helped to keep them in check.
It was too much of a challenge for Barmston, who were limited to 76-8. Warkup made 37 and Simon Porter 15, but Andy Crabtree claimed four wickets and James Baker three.
Hutton Cranswick overhauled Wetwang’s 68 all out with eight wickets in hand, while Trinity SCC conceded to Globe.
In the Hospital Plate, Rob Pinder smashed 126 as Wold Newton booked their place in the last four. They posted 191-2 before Oli West’s 4-5 restricted opponents Wetwang to 95-8.
North Frodingham beat Barmston in a low-scoring first semi-final..
Barmston limped to 41-7, and it was no surprise that Frod made it to the final, winning by five wickets, although Barmston’s Darren Whatling took 3-17.
