A DRIFFIELD man who hears voices in his head telling him to do things has appeared in court admitting a street robbery.
Jonothan Clarke, 43, robbed Daniel Jenkinson of £10 on 10 February and then fled, Hull Crown Court heard on Monday April 8.
Clarke of Gibson Road pleaded guilty to a single charge of robbery. He claims he robbed Jenkinson of £10-worth of heroin not a £10 note. Crown barrister Phillip Evans said it made no difference if it was money or drugs – he had admitted it was robbery.
Defence barrister Julia Baggs said Clarke had a history of bi-polar disorder and was diagnosed seven years ago. “He reports hearing voices in his head asking him to do things,” said Ms Baggs. “He has contemplated suicide on a number of occasions.”
Recorder Margia Mostafa ordered Clarke should see a psychiatrist and obtain a report on his background from the Humberside Probation Service before he is sentenced on June 3. He was allowed to walk free on bail.
