£8,000 damage to village bridge

Thieves stole a variety of metal from Burton Agnes Bowling Club between Saturday March 30 and Thursday April 11 after climbing over a fence to gain access.

A police spokeswoman said: “They have removed the ball cock, metal and brass joint from pipes to the irrigation system. Please contact the police if you noticed anyone on the grounds during that time acting suspiciously, crime reference 1967668.”

Officers are also investigating criminal damage to a Grade 2 listed Bridge at Thorpe Hall, Rudston, during Saturday 13 when someone entered the grounds via a public footpath.

A police spokeswoman said: “They made their way to a bridge over a stream and used physical force to dislodge large coping stones and brick work. Some of the bricks and coping stones fell into the stream. The damage to the bridge is estimated to be around £8,000. Winesses are sough - dial 101 and quote reference number 1968213.
