Driffield’s Adam Young is maintaining his progression through the ranks at Hull City after extending his deal by another year.
The 14-year-old midfielder originally joined the Championship play-off hopefuls as an under-seven, and says that he has “loved every minute” of his time as a Tiger.
He is now looking forward to a big season, as he will be stepping up into the under-16s side to play in fixtures across the length and breadth of England.
The Arsenal and Scarborough Athletic fan said: “We will merge with this season’s under-15s to play at under-16 level, mirroring the under-18s fixtures all over the country.
“It will be tough to get into the match-day squad but I’ll be working hard to give myself a chance.
“You play a lot of football because I train four times a week and play on Sundays, so I only get Monday and Tuesdays off.
“Next season I’ll only get Sunday off as I’ll be playing Saturdays.”
The Tigers made the step up into the second tier of academy football this season, which has resulted in Adam coming up against better players.
He added: "This has been the first season we have competed at that level .
“I played at Manchester City’s new training ground earlier in the season, they had a lot of foreign players and England internationals in their squad, so that was a great experience.”
Adam hasn’t set too many goals on the footballing path that lies ahead of him, he is just keen to maintain his progression in the game.
“I just want to play at the highest level that can do when I’m older and continue enjoying my football,” he said.
