Elvidge hits top form for Scarborough 2nds

Neil Elvidge was in majestic batting form as Scarborough 2nds got the better of a draw against Yapham in the Ebor Division Two of the York Senior League.

Elvidge hit 13 fours and two sixes as he made his way to 132 from 108 balls in Scarborough's total of 240-7.

There were also telling knocks of 26 from Tom Precious, 20 from Kieron Howard and 44 not out from Darren Mills.

Harrison Wood took 3-32 in the reply, while Josh Mainprize and David Snowball took two wickets each, but they couldn't end the final partnership, as Yapham closed on 114-9.

In the Premier Division, Studley Royal got the better of a drawn game with Pickering, Dan Coad (71) and Rob Mackle (38) helping the visitors reach 208-9 which included three wickets from Tim Whincup (3-58).

Steve Walmsley went one better taking 4-36 as the hosts reply closed on 197-9 Kieran Bowes remaining unbeaten on 35 to deny the away side maximum points.

A century stand between John Gilham (84) and Kevin Bradley (53) almost set up victory for Clifton Alliance against Beverley Town but the visitors came up 13 runs short finishing on 222-8 with Kieran Thompson (3-60) and Anthony Spence (3-53) both taking three wickets.

That was in reply to the home sides 235-9, Jon Vodden and Tommy Hudson joint top scorers with 36 as David Friend recorded the best figures in the match, his three wickets coming at a cost of 45. The draw was enough to keep the away side in third place in the table and well in contention for a top two finish.

Will Stephen’s unbeaten 69 helped York 2nds to a three-wicket win at Driffield Town 2nds as they scored 182-7 despite the efforts of Ollie Ezard (3-40) and Jamie Greavson (3-44), Ian Jarvis also contributing 44 to the total.

That came after Simon Hall had taken 3-19 as the hosts were restricted to 178-7, Luke Ramsey the top scorer with 41.

Malton & Old Malton grabbed a victory over Beverley Town 2nds in Division One.

A century from Harry Gamble helped the visitors reach 219-7, as Oliver Gilbank took 3-42. Neil Johnson followed up last week’s half-century with 55, but it was the fifth wicket pair of Thomas Bumby (61no) and Michael Linsley (35no) who took their side to a third straight win.

Patrington also picked up maximum points as they beat east coast rivals Bridlington by 95 runs.

Ashley Mckinley became the division’s leading run scorer thanks to an unbeaten century; his 128 along with contributions from Connor Mckinley (45) and Matthew Dixon (41) allowing the visitors to reach 282-5. Dixon (4-34) then picked up four wickets as the hosts could manage only 187 in reply, Nick Tennant the top scorer with 54.

Jamie Nesfield took 6-39 for Flixton as they dismissed visitors Pocklington for 128, Ted Donkin and Neal Jackson both contributing 32.

Michael Dennis replied with 34 for the hosts who sealed a five wicket win to climb over Harrogate into fourth place.

Harrogate 2nds were left frustrated when rain and worsening light forced a premature end to their match against Sewerby with the home side in a dominant position.

Will Parker (63), and both Ben (49) and James Kempley (46) had all contributed to a sizable total of 261-8 despite five wickets form Steve Janney (5-73).

The visitors has reached 136-7 in reply when play was halted leaving Michael Artley unbeaten on 63, and Cameron O’Donnell with figures of 3-26.
