The 250 bin men who empty the East Riding’s 400,000 blue, brown and green bins are the best in the country.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s waste collection team has won a national award for the quality of the service they provide. The team has been singled out nationally for the title of Best Overall Performer by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE), a not-for-profit local government body working with over 300 councils throughout the UK.
Nigel Leighton, the council’s director of environment and neighbourhood services, said: “To be measured against other councils across the country and come out on top is an incredible achievement. This is the second year running we have won this award.”
