VANDALS broke into Nafferton Recreation Club and used a car to rip holes a foot deep in a pitch.
They tore up the ground by performing manouvres which the police have described as “doughnuts”.
Then they locked the main gates as they fled the scene - leaving behind a piece of evidents in the form of a fairing from the fronmt of the car.
A police spokeswoman said: “At 8pm on Friday December 7, unknown people approached the locked gates of the recreation pitch of the sports club in a black Volkswagen Golf.
“They entered the combination lock to get through gate.
“They then drove onto the pitch and did ‘doughnuts’ on the pitch, tearing up the field - at some points sinking the pitch down a foot.
“The vehicle became damaged during the process, causing the front fairing to come off.
“The car then drove off the pitch and the gate was locked on the way out.
If anyone witnessed cime and or recognised anyone in the vehicle they should contact the police by calling 101 and quoting crime reference number 1946240.
Police are also hunting vandals who cause malicious damage to the front door of the Real Aid Charity Shop on Market Place, Driffield, between 4.45pm on Tuesday December 4 and 9.30am on Wednesday December 5.
Police said someone approached the front of Real Aid and put glue into the lock, securing the front door.
A police spokeswoman said: “The store manager was unable to open the door to the shop the following morning, which required a lock smith to replace the lock.
“Because of the delay in being able to open the shop for business, it is estimated that the store lost about £300 of takings for the day.
